First Jump - Static Line   STATIC LINE

All of Skydive St Andrews student training is undertaken using the more modern and up-to-date Ram Air Progression System (RAPS). This is a square parachute system with far more controllability than its older counterpart, the round parachute.

This square parachute has a significantly greater weather tolerance which gives you the best chance of jumping on the day you trained, saving the inconvenience of having to return at a later date. Most of the major clubs in the UK now offer only the square parachute course and no longer use round parachutes.

A 'static line' attached to the parachute opens the chute as you fall away from the aircraft. All square parachute systems carry reserve parachutes with automatic activation devices for safety..
